FOOD ASSISTANCE

SNAP Benefits and Matching Funds

Wilmington Farmers Market now accepts SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps) for a 4th Season.

We also provide up to $25 in matching funds every week in the form of Market Cash, as funding allows. To use your SNAP benefits and receive matching funds, please visit the Market Tent when you arrive to swipe your card and receive your Market Cash.

  • Bring your EBT card to the Market Manager’s table to purchase Market Cash.
  • The Market Manager will swipe your card and the amount purchased is deducted from your SNAP account.
  • Market Cash purchased will be doubled (up to $25 per Market day). Example: If you purchase $25 with your SNAP/EBT card, we will give you $50 in Market Cash to spend with vendors on SNAP eligible products.
  • Use the SNAP coupons on any SNAP-eligible items. Coupons do not expire and can be used week to week.
SNAP is administered by the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). SNAP benefits include:
  • Monthly funds on an EBT card to buy food
  • $20 a month put back on your EBT card when you use SNAP to buy local produce via the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP)
  • SNAP Path to Work free education and training opportunities
  • Free nutrition education classes and resources
  • Connections to other kinds of help, like utility discounts, free school meals, and discounted admissions to many Commonwealth museums and cultural institutions via EBT Card to Culture
